The mission at Original Duckhead is to combat the throwaway culture in the umbrella industry through conscious design. By recycling post-consumer plastic waste, they aim to save millions of bottles from landfills and oceans. To date, they've repurposed over 4 million bottles, with a goal of recycling 10 million by 2030.
Founded in 2012, Original Duckhead leads the industry in using recycled fabrics and creating everyday products that encourage thoughtful consumerism. They champion sustainable values and aim to revolutionize the umbrella industry.
During their inception, Original Duckhead’s Founder Morgan Cros personally visited and audited many industry experts to find the right partner for her vision. In order to create their iconic umbrella designs, they have a long-standing partnership with a family owned manufacturer in China who ensures full transparency.
Any Original Duckhead partner is SEDEX audited and SA8000 certified for labour, health, safety and environmental standards and business ethics. They only work with manufacturers who share their high social, ethical and environmental standards.
Original Duckhead pays their UK staff a living wage and is accredited with The Living Wage Foundation, an organization who celebrates ethical leadership around the United Kingdom. Due to the rise in inflation, The real Living Wage remains the only wage rate calculated based on what it costs to live in the UK and London.
