Higonokami Brass Handled Mini Folding Knife

This knife may be miniature and adorable, but it doesn't mess around! Made with the same traditional methods and high quality materials as the full sized Higonokami blue steel knives, this mini knife is sharp and made to last.

Higonokami folding pocket knife handmade in Japan by Nagao Kanekoma, the original manufacturer of Higonokami knives since 1894.

The knife has a double-edged blade with a V-shaped cross section, which allows it to be easily used by right or left handed people.

It doesn't have a locking mechanism, but stays open/closed with friction. The "tail" on the end of the blade allows you to easily open it and hold it open with your thumb.

Japanese blue steel is a pure, high grade of carbon steel with corrosion resistance and excellent edge retention. This knife will stay sharp for a long time and require minimal maintenance.

Wipe blade clean and dry well after each use to prevent rust. Oil occasionally with a food grade oil. Sharpen with a sharpening stone as needed.

Brass handle will develop a patina over time. This gives it character and is considered desirable by most people, but it can easily be restored to a shiny finish with brass polish if you'd like.

If the hinge mechanism becomes loose over time, you can tighten it by gently tapping on it with a mallet.

The simple, practical and attractive Higonokami knife design was created in the 1890s in Japan and remains relatively unchanged today. Nagao Kanekoma has been making these knives for over 100 years, through 5 generations, and is the only remaining knife maker who can use the "Higonokami" trademark. Each knife is handmade in their workshop.
