Mussel Brush

This Mussel Brush is the perfect gift for any coastal forager or seafood lover. 

Anyone who has tried to cook mussels at home knows that they are pretty stubborn to clean, and a sturdy, stiff-bristled brush is a necessity. You can also use it to scrub other shellfish like clams. The cute mussel illustration on top helps brush hoarders like myself distinguish it from other cleaning brushes that may be lying around the kitchen.

Brush is fully compostable.

Materials: untreated beechwood and union fiber (plant fiber)

Dimensions: 9.5 cm (3.75") long

Rinse thoroughly and store bristles-down in a place where the water can drain away from the bristles. Dry thoroughly before storing in a drawer or other enclosed space.

You can sanitize your brush with hydrogen peroxide or 10% bleach if it starts to look dingy to prolong its life. Rinse thoroughly after sanitizing.

If it develops mold, the bristles become too soft, or the wood becomes very cracked, then it's time to replace it. Entire brush is fully compostable at end of life.

Bürstenhaus Redecker was founded in Germany in 1935 by Friedel Redecker, who became blind as a child and found meaningful and profitable work as a brushmaker. He created many of the Redecker products still being sold today by the third generation of the Redecker family. Redecker products are made with natural, renewal materials like sustainably grown and harvested beech wood, plant fibers, animal hair and stainless steel. Almost all Redecker products are still made in Germany, and several of their classic brush designs are made by hand.
