Za'atar

Landsea's Za'atar is inspired by the classic Middle Eastern seasoning blend which traditionally includes toasted sesame, aumac, marjoram, sea salt and a touch of hot pepper. Landsea's version includes all of these ingredients in addition to wild-crafted bull kelp and nettles from Orcas Island for some extra nutrition and umami.

Za'atar has a bright, tangy flavor profile but is also grounded by the nutty flavor of Landsea Gomasio's original ingredients. It's delicious on roasted meats, vegetables, or in a bowl of olive oil for dipping bread.

All Kelp and Nettles are wild-crafted by small family run business in the Pacific Northwest. There is no organic certification process for seaweeds and nettles because they are wild and not cultivated. The organic sesame is purchased from Kevala (an organic nut and seed distributor). All the herbs in Landsea Za’atar are certified organic.

When founder Brooke Budner moved to Orcas Island, she noticed the abundance of seaweed and nettles on the land and in the ocean around her home. After researching and discovering the numerous health benefits of consuming seaweed, specifically kelp, and other wild plant medicinals, such as nettles, she started this company with the vision of getting more of these healthful, local and abundantly available foods onto people's plates.
