Watermelon Margarita Recipe

Watermelon Margarita Recipe

Did you know the Wildwood Candle containers are actually rocks glasses and are super easy to clean & reuse? Yep, I serve all my cocktails in these old Wildwood Candle glasses. Just use a butter knife to gently scrape out the last bits of wax from the bottom, pull off the adhesive tab that holds the wick in place, and wash in hot soapy water. The soy wax melts & dissolves easily. I was doing underconsumption core before it was a TikTok trend.

I also discovered that these adorable shallow dishes from Portland's Bad Dogs Studio are the perfect size for putting a salt rim on these glasses.

So I made Alana make these watermelon margaritas with them so I could share the recipe with you!

Watermelon margarita:
2 oz watermelon & cucumber juice*
1.5 oz tequila
1 oz triple sec
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz mezcal (optional, but I like it!)

1. Rub the entire rim of a rocks glass with a cut lime and dip it in a dish of Tajin to get it nicely coated. Fill the glass with ice.
2. Add all ingredients to a shaker full of ice and shake until well chilled.
3. Strain into your glass and garnish with a sprig of mint or a lime wheel if you feel fancy.

*Make the watermelon cucumber juice by adding half a mini watermelon and half an english cucumber to a blender or juicer. You can strain it if you want, but I don't.

Use the rest of your juice for a booze-free agua fresca! Just mix the juice with lime juice, water, and a little simple syrup or honey water to taste. So good on a hot day!
